Connect GitHub
Install the CodeCleared GitHub App, grant repository access, choose an organization, and import repositories.
Purpose
Connect GitHub repositories so CodeCleared can import and scan authorized code.
Who
GitHub repository administrators and CodeCleared organization owners or admins.
Prerequisites
You need authority to install or configure the GitHub App and access to the destination organization.
How it works
- Install the CodeCleared GitHub App.
- Grant access to the required repositories.
- Select the CodeCleared organization.
- Import the repositories shown.
When you import, CodeCleared sets the repository default branch from GitHub’s configured default branch. You can change that value later in repository configuration if needed.
Business rules
Repository visibility is determined by the App grant and selected organization. PR checks additionally require the App Checks permission. Import fails if GitHub cannot return the repository metadata, including its default branch.
Scenarios & edge cases
Repository missing: App access is limited or the wrong organization is selected. Private/external repository: provide a product PAT only when the product requests it. Non-main default branch: import still uses GitHub’s default (for example develop or master).
Limits
CodeCleared cannot import repositories GitHub does not expose to the App.
Common errors
- Selecting an organization after importing.
- Expecting PR checks without Checks permission.
- Expecting every import to default to
mainregardless of GitHub settings.
